Recently I performed a 2-D CFD analysis of an industrial Labyrinth seal which has grooves on the rotor side. Fluent 5 did a great job predicting the pressure drop and windage heat-up through the Laby seal. The predicted pressure drop is within 1.3% and the temperaure rise is within 1% compared with test data. I am not sure what kind of problems you have when you try to simulate the seal. Please be specific about the problems and I will see if I can be any help.
