Something that should be easy, but for some reason I am not able to calculate it:

Let's say that I have a mixture of fuel and oxidizer. I ignite it in one point and see how the flame is spreading. In a real life I ignite it using an electric spark. In the simulation I choose to have a small region where I have burnt mixture at high temperature. The question is how do I correlate these two methods? How big should be the ignition area at the simulation? How do I calculate energy input in the system by the ignition system? Is it just Cp*(Thot-Tcold)*(Area of the ignition region)?

Alternatively - how do I model spark ignition? I have a choice of using Fluent or OpenFOAM, but I am more interested in principle.

Thank you in advance.
