Hello All,

I have tried to search quite a bit to figure this out with literature and other forum discussions but I haven't had any success and I hope someone could really help me out.

The problem is fairly simple: I have an enclosed domain (all walls - a very skewed and distorted triangle if you will) with a fluid inside it. It is being heated from one of the walls (sort of the hypoteneus - heat flux in 7000W/m2) for a duration of 1 hour (3600s at 0.05 timestep size). I am trying to solve for two things:
1) Buoyancy driven fluid motion and convection. This was easy and it was resolved quite nicely. I got a small animation for the velocity and temp contours.
2) There is a 2 inch block of aluminum sitting at another wall that needs to be heated by the fluid as the Al block cannot be in contact with the heat source wall. - How do I solve this one?
2a) Do I have to physically build a 2 inch block on to the geometry? If so, will that regarded as a second domain?
2b) If not, can I specify a wall thickness of 2 inches and the material as Aluminum?
2c) What type of boundary condition will I be assigning to the wall? (Heat Flux or Heat Transfer Coefficient?)
2d) If I am to assign it as 'Heat Transfer Coefficient', will I have to manually calculate it to incorporate the 2 inch thickness?

Finally, in CFX Post, I am not able to make a chart of Temperature profile at a wall vs. time (XY transient) because the drop down menu labeled 'Location' is blank.
