checkerboard in FEM -- CFD Online Discussion Forums

Alex Guest Posts: n/a	I am using a finite element code to solve a thin film problem. The result appears to be repeating bands of high and low pressure. I suspect a checkerboarding instability. The griding options are tet meshes and a 27 noded brick elements both of which result in the same problem. Any suggestions? Thanks
