Thermoacoustics theories are applied for axial and centrifugal turbomachinery. Specially noise propagation is an important parameter when dealing with aeroengines because of noise regulations near airports and towns. Because of that many efforts have been made in order to reduce the intensity level produced by engines in operation. There is a description of thermoacoustic theories applied to axial compressors and fan in: N. A. Cumpsty. "Compressor Aerodynamics". Longman. 1989

thanks for your mail. but thermoacoustics are also applied for other applications. i am looking for a general introduction. basically i would like to use acoustics in combustion problems. if you have any reference please tell me.

Your best bet would be to search Journals especially those relating to turbomachinery and combustion and search for combustion instability. you can search for recent papers in this area in the proceedings of the ASME 2001 Turbo Expo at the ASME's website.
