This is a B.E project.I'm using a resonator geometry(set of tubes with holes in them) for noise reduction. Is d analysis of such a geometry possible using CFD???
Also do the holes behave as wall only?
Right now i know that only mass flow rate values can be given at inlet. What should be the inertia and viscous resistances values (if these can b d other parameters) at muffler inlet to obtain noise reduction after d muffler??

You need to first decide on the time you have in hand and the computing power that you have. The holes you can model them as a cavity region. The more the complexity that you introduce, the uncertanities increases with them.

Sir,
Thank you so much for replying. We have got a geometry of a perforated pipe type of muffler that has been developed in CATIA V5 R17.. Can we import that file in GAMBIT and then create a mesh on it? If yes, then please guide us how? It is our final year B.E. project and we have time till March End.

how do v mesh a perforated tube.there r 3 perforated tubes inside the muffler body n 1 of the tube is vertical .so how can v use Cooper scheme for meshing....if not then which scheme should v use.
