Hi, Can anyone of you please let me know where i can find more information on k-omega models (1988,98,menter sst). I want to use this model for turbulent boundary layers. what are typical values of initial k and omega. I am very new to this kind of work and so any sugessations will be immensley helpful

Hi Amol,

for SST model you can check out the authors paper in AIAA journal 32, no 8, august 1994 issue.

As far as I know, the inlet values of k and w are usually obtained from experimental data. Some time its given in terms of ratio of turbulent viscosity to molecular viscosity and free stream turbulence. From this you can get k and w values for inlet.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I do not have any experimental data as of now.

Can you try this? It works very well in my case.

TEIN=1.5*(0.037*UIN)**2 EDIN=TEIN**0.5/(0.3*DJET)

TE is k, ED is omega and DJET is the characteristic length. The CFX-4 code uses this.

I hope this helps.
