How can I write Matlab code for this question Using ADI method and Finite volume method

Is this a homework problem?


If it is, try to solve a few very small cases(say 3*3 grids) in pen and paper. It will help you understand and write your code.



Whenever I'm stuck with how to solve a CFD problem, I google for smaller portions of the problem that I'm trying to solve.


In your case, I would search in google and Youtube for tutorials on ADI method, ADI method for solving heat conduction equations, ADI method for solving convection equation, ADI method for solving convection-diffusion equations, ADI methods for solving laplacian/poisson equations etc.


I don't know if ADI is applicable for solving convection/convection-diffusion equations, but since the heat conduction equations have a dissipation/diffusion term, it makes me think that ADI methods might be applicable to solving Elliptical and Parabolic PDEs. I don't know if that is a correct guess, it's just how I like to collect material for my research.


I search on Youtube for ADI methods for solving heat conduction equations and found a good explanation with 141 likes and few dislikes. It seems people liked it. I didn't verify it, but it looks legit and it might be of help to you.

After searching on youtube and google, you would want to do the previous searches with a few additions. Ex : FORTRAN code for ADI method of heat conduction. C++ code for ADI method of heat conduction. Matlab code for ADI method of heat conduction etc.


Then if you still don't find a suitable material for your research, you would need to search in github. Go to github.com and use the search bar with similar search terms as I wrote above.
