Hi
i don't understand the effect of enabling / disabling of allowFreeStandingZoneFaces, according to this picture, can anybody explain it more? Thank you very much |

Hello, did you ever find out what the effect of this is? Especially which one affects mesh quality badly?

Notice the additional black "lines" on the left picture.
if kept (=true), then these Face Zones can cause mesh quality problems. |

In the tutorial annularThermalMixer, execute upto snappyHexMesh (remove the lines for baffle creating in the Allrun script), one time with allowFreeStandingZoneFaces=true and another time with allowFreeStandingZoneFaces=false and compare the results/meshes.
in false there are no rotorBlades - patch and no statorBlades - patch. See attached pictures. Also notice, when true there are some meshfaces at the upper border. I think these make the mesh quality more worse. Greets |
