Dear OpenFOAM users,

the new version of CAELinux (2011) is now officially released.

For those of you who may not know, CAELinux is a free LiveDVD Linux distribution dedicated to Computer Aided Engineering, scientific simulation and mathematical modeling. This new release is based on an updated Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS 64bit and includes "ready-to-use" installations of:

CFD analysis:
OpenFOAM 2.0.1 and Code-Saturne 2.0.2 (64bit, MPI support) both with simple GUI CFD study wizards and video tutorials to start an analysis from a mesh prepared in Salome.

FE analysis:
Salome-Meca 2011.2 (64bit) with two versions of Code-Aster 11.0 64bit: one for OpenMP (the one that is integrated in Salome Meca) and another with MPI support for MUMPS and PETSC solvers. Code-Aster study wizard with templates for linear and non-linear statics, thermal analysis and modal analysis.
Calculix 2.3 with MED to Abaqus file conversion tool and Impact 0.76 explicit dynamic solver.

Pre & post processors:
Paraview, OpenDX, GMSH, Netgen and enGrid, Discretizer / Discretizer::Setup, Snappyhexmesh, Tetgen and VoxelMesher

Multiphysics:
OpenFOAM 2.0.1, Elmer FEM v6.2 with ElmerGUI and MPI and HYPRE/MUMPS support, latest release of Fenics/Dolfin

Math, plots & text editing:
R+Rkward, wxMaxima, Octave+QtOctave, Scilab, Scipy, OpenModelica, Qtiplot, Labplot, Gnuplot, Grace, g3Data, Latex, Texmaker, Lyx and OpenOffice 3.2

Development:
a complete development environment with gcc/g++/gfortran compilers, Python, Perl, Tcl/Tk and gdb / DDD debuggers.

CAElinux 2011 ISO image can be burned on DVD or installed on USB key (with UNetBootin) to run in "Live" Mode and can be easily installed on hard disk with the very simple Ubuntu installer.
Overall, the 4Gb CAELinux 2011 LiveDVD contains about 12Gb of great open source simulation tools ready for use... and all this is free.
