Hi all
I find that all my results draw by paraview are "Perspective View". For example, for a framewire cube, when I put one of its surface parallel to the screen, I always see all the edges because of the perspective effect. Now I want something in "Orthogonal View", the same in CAD programmes, i.e. in OpenGL, I want a result using glOrtho() instead of glPerspective(). How can I achieve this? Any advice is appreciate. Dear Ka Liu,
on left top of the main window,in which your model is viewed, are some small buttons. You can change the projection method in one of them, I think the 2nd from the right. Thomas |

Hi Thomas
Thank you for your help. I didn't know this kind of thing is called "Parallel Projection" in paraview. Now I get what I wanted. The location of the toggle is "Edit View Options"-->"Gerneral"-->Use parallel projection. Best wishes, Kai |

Hi there!
This post is from 2007, but now I am in the same trouble, using a paraView 5.0.1 64-bit. I can't really find this "Edit View Options"-->"Gerneral"-->Use parallel projection. "" I have checked the users guide and there is no such thing.... I start to think that they decided that it was not sth useful... |

OK, sorry. I have just realized that it's a toggle where swaps between 2D and 3D.
Thankyou! |

There is a little button labeled "3D". It can toggle to 2D. This is what you are looking for. Note that the toggle does not trigger a redraw, you need to do this yourself (e.g. by zooming).
Edit: Somehow I missed your update.

In the latest paraview versions (example: 5.4.1) to switch to 2D viewing mode, you can tick the Camera Parallel Projection checkbox under the Orientation Axes header of the Properties panel in the pipeline browser.
Hope this can help -Louis |
