Hi everyone,

I'm running foamLog on a simpleFoam log file, and I'm getting the following error message when running on my Mac Pro workstation running OSX 10.5.

Executing: awk -f ../kE/logs/foamLog.awk log
awk: ../kE/logs/p_2 makes too many open files
input record number 39, file log
source line number 73

If I reproduce the solution on our Linux cluster, there is no problem.

Any ideas on why this is happening, and how to fix it?

Eric

What happens if before running foamLog you issue the command

limit descriptors unlimited

? I do not have a working setup on 10.5, so can't try right now, but I suspect this has something to do with the limits set.

HTH

The solution to this problem is to use /opt/local/bin/gawk instead of /usr/bin/awk. This requires that gawk be installed using MacPorts, and that foamLog be modified (replace awk with gawk).
