Hello,

I'm currently investigating dsmcFoam (OF 2.3.0). I simulated the relaxation of argon gas to equilibrium. If I plot the number of particles vs. the particle velocity (see example picture below) to compare it with the Maxwell distribution, I find fluctuations between the time steps. This data is not time averaged.
Exists a tool to time average the lagrangian data in OpenFoam to minimize the statistical error? I couldn't find a possible utility in OpenFoam. Is there a way to do this in OpenFoam (on-the-fly or post-processing)?

Regards,
hester

Hello Hester,

I am also working on Euler-lagrangian simulations of particle laden flows.

I too need to get the time-averged velocities of Lagrangian particles.

Have you achieved that? If so, could you please let me know how to do that.

Thanks in advance!

Hello Vidyadhar,

I'm not able to help you since I never found a tool for time-averaging. Since I'm not working on this problem anymore I stopped looking for a solution.
If you develop a way to solve the problem please share it.

Regards,
hester
