Hi guys,

I'm doing a simulation of two counter-rotation propellers with different simulation approaches. The sliding mesh simulation using pimplyDyMFoam worked well, but what I need is a steady-state solution now.

Therefore, I'm using two MRF for the two propellers. Everything went well in OpenFOAM 2.3.0, but for the mixingPlane I had to switch to foam-extend 3.1.

In foam-extend 3.1 snappyHexMesh is not generating a master and a slave boundary anymore. Since there is no topoSet and createBaffles like in OF-2.3, how can I generate an interface with a master and a slave patch?

I tried createPatch ans setSet but it wasn't successful. I would really appreciated your help!

Cheers,
Yanyan

Hi,

I am quite interested in this topic. Did you solve your simulation into OF3.1-ext?

I have the same problem. May I know how you deal with that?
Thanks!

Hi, I did a workaround where I used the steadystate solution of the first rotor and circumferentially averaged the results using rotating the mesh by different angles and averaging over these fields. Then I mapped the circumferential averaged field onto the second model with the second rotor. I know, not a elegant solution but it worked well for me.

Don't hesitate to ask .

Cheers

Thanks!

I have to use topoSet in OF ext 3.1 and there is no way to have a workaround in my case. Try to compile topoSet individually but failed.
