Hello Everyone,

I'm actually interested in learning about Open Foam because I am going to do my project using this software. However, I am wondering how can I start and also what things that I have to learn about C++ in order to understand Open Foam more deeply..

Thank you,

Hi,

I have just started as well, and am still a beginner with regards to C++. That being said, you can start making cases without any knowledge of C++ by following the user guide, (the first chapter had a few tutorials in it).

After that I would browse the tutorial files that are included in the installation to see what the included solvers can do. I copied the all the tutorials into the run directory and just went through lots of cases that had an Allrun script.

To find out how to make your own solvers/utilities you can see the source code and copy/edit their solvers to see what happens, and there's material around to study from aswell: http://www.tfd.chalmers.se/~hani/kurser/OS_CFD_2014/
