Is it possible to covert PHI into PHIDA? Could anyone tell me how to do that? Thanks.

I never tried this before. But I assume you can first load the case in VR editor, change the setting in VR for phi to phida and then save the case file. Give it a try!

Try to load your case in VR Editor, change output to PHI, and restart for 2-3 iterations. And you will have phi file!

The method suggested in the first reply certainly won't work, as VR-Editor only copies existing PHI/PHIDA files to the saved names. The second won't either, as Earth isn't quite clever enough to read a PHI file and write a PHIDA. It expects input and output to be in the same format.
You can switch format from PHI->PHIDA or PHIDA->PHI using the little-known PINTO program. This is run from a DOS command prompt by the command runpin. It needs an input file Q1PIN. To convert from PHI->PHIDA the Q1PIN file should contain: LDA=T STOP After running, a new file called NPHIDA will have been created. To go from PHIDA->PHI it should contain: LFS=T STOP After running a new file NPHI will have been created. These new files can be renamed as required. More information on PINTO can be found in the POLIS Ecyclopaedia under P. http://www.cham.co.uk/phoenics/d_polis/d_info/pinto.htm |

Thanks. However, it was able to convert a phida file to NPHI but it cannot convert a phi file into NPHIDA. I don't know where is the problem because I did replace LFS=T by LDA=T in Q1pin. I'm using PHOENICS 3.4.
More help is needed! The IOSTAT:602 part of the error report has the following definition in the Compaq Fortran help-
severe (602): File not found FOR$IOS_F6416. An OPEN statement specified STATUS='OLD' for a specified file or a directory path that does not exist. Is it possible that you do not have a file called phida in the directory from which you are running? Could be your file format setting is wrong. To convert PHI -> PHIDA you must have: # PHIDA=F in PREFIX (formatted in Options - File format) to make PINTO pick up a PHI file # LDA=T in Q1PIN to make it write an NPHIDA # a file called PHI in the working directory To convert PHIDA -. PHI you must have # PHIDA=T in PREFIX (direct access in Options - File format) to make it pick up a PHIDA file # LFS=T in Q1PIN to make it write an NPHI # a file called PHIDA in the working directory If this still doesn't work, send your Q1PIN, PREFIX and PHI (zipped!) to support@cham.co.uk. They will try to see what is wrong. |

It works! The problem was in the PREFIX. It need be changed to PHIDA=F if I want to convert PHI into PHIDA by PINTO.
Thanks a lot! |
