changing the material is same as when you delete...

changing the material is same as when you delete the block and it goes to VORFN, therefore it disconnects itself from remaining mesh. When you uncheck that material from parts list it is no more part...

I see many surfaces and curves which I think are unnecessary. Are you sure these surfaces and curves are necessary or only the centre cuboid and outer boundaries?
