Looks good but you still need to separate the brackets in individual faces. I use salome and this is best done with the explode function under the new entity menu. I don't think it makes a difference...

problem solved by separating the small surfaces...

problem solved by separating the small surfaces from the larger ones. The mesh size was reduced by 3 and the memory consumption is now about 2GB-2.5GB. still pricy but at least it's manageable.
