What about the incomplete error message - if I try non-existing nams for patch field types it seems to work OK. Hmm.

Looks to me like a bug in the error message + a problem with boundary conditions. Have you got any fancy b.c.-s in your case? Could you try some other case (lid-driven cavity) to see all is well...
