Hello,

I am new to star ccm+, and would like to simulate turbulent flow inside pipes/ducts.
My question is, how to choose mesh setting venues? I mean like absolute thickness of prism mesh, thickness of near wall prism layer? and may be the relative max/min surface size?

How to set these values? are there any equations or even rule of thumbs in inputting these parameters?

Thank you!

All of these are explained in the user manual and are discussed in the tutorials for star-ccm+. You should look into law of the wall, y+, near wall functions for further guidance of meshing. Additionally, look into meshing studies (such as convergence and sensitivty).
