Hi all,
I'm a newbie with this software and I'd like to ask if it's possible to export my region for CAD modeling (I started my work with a .iges file, repaired surfaces, made the mesh, physics, everything and initialized simulation...now I must see the behavior adding rudders). My version is 4.04 (waiting for the latest one, hopefully only a few days) and I'm looking to export to CATIA,Solidworks and similar softwares. Thanks in advance. |

Well you can always select the Representation you want to be exported (Improted Mesh, Remeshed Surface or an extracted boundary from a Volume Mesh) from Representations and then export it in several formats.
However I'm not sure as to how you can modify these again the the CAD package. |

Thanks Aroon,in fact I tried to export those representations but I didn't find a common format for my CAD modeller...

I might not be undserstanding your problem correctly, but why dont you just make the changes in a CAD package and then redo the simulation in CCM+??

I solved the problem modelling the appendices with a solid CAD modeller and importing them as new regions, then performing boolean operations. |

Try to use the surface wrapper, this will fix your geometry and save your time... Once you imported the geometry, STAR-CCM+ understands it as a "mesh" file. The only format that maybe a CAD can read is .stl. If you get a latest version, like 5.02, you can import it as a geometry in the 3D-CAD modeller, and there make some changes...

Anyway, the most important thing is that my problem's been solved in a way or another...surely I'll try your method in the near future. Really appreciate your help, guys. |
