The Opportunity The Computational Mechanics Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Research Fellow to work as part of a highly motivated team located at Clayton campus. As the Research Fellow, you will be involved in continuing to build the department's reputation for excellence in research. Additionally, you will: • have a PhD qualification from a recognised university in the field of mechanical or ocean engineering with significant experience in computational fluid dynamics modelling (ideally using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) • have a good knowledge of programming in a high level language such as Fortran90, C or C++ • collaborate with experimental and modelling colleagues at other laboratories including CSIRO (Australia) and IITB (India) • conduct outstanding research and produce high-quality research outcomes • take an active role in maintaining research innovation in the group • contribute to the supervision of Final Year Project and Postgraduate students where applicable. Excellent organisational skills, including manuscript preparation and ability to make a good impression on other research staff will be essential to your success.
