hello everyone,

sometimes, i have the lines and curves of a face, but when i want to creat the mesh, i find that the face doesn't exist. someone know what is wrong?

by the way, do you have any suggestions of creating mesh on a cylinder? the quality of my mesh is always disappointing.

this link show what i said, i can not find the face of the small semi-circle.

thank you

Bonjour steven,

I move your thread in the right subforum (ansys meshing)

ok I give you first tip:
If you know you will handle a problem in 3d, then create a volume.
In your case you don't see the small disk, because it is not created.
So create volume, then use "split"

bonjour Maxime,

ok, thank you. you are always so kind. in fact, i didn't creat a volume because i wanted to sweep the face with mesh to form a volume so that it will be better. and i have created a new face with the line and the curve.

problem with sweep is connectivity.
If you sweep the ring, you will have your volume.
Then if your sweep the small disk, you will have the inner volume.
But you will have stacked surfaces between both volumes, and that you have to fix it with connect faces.
And finally you will have to delete your rectangle surface, because you won't use it.
At the end you have "lot's" a work

yes, you are right. i didn't consider that the inner face may be treated as a wall. that will affect the similation.
thank you

do you know whether there is any way to ignore the face (so that it will not be treated as a wall)

if inner surfaces are well connected, then gambit will automatically treat them as interior
