Default Why my geometry appear as 3D?

Hello I am tried to draw 2D geometry in xy-plane I open designModeler and draw a rectangle in xy-plane and give its dimension as 1m*1m after I press extrude then generate the geometry become as 3D? what the problem may somebody guide me?

That is exactly what the extrude feature is supposed to do.
Check out "Concept > Surfaces from Sketches"

I plotted the rectangle then select concept>surfaces from sketches then after press extrude an error appear: undefined base object? is there something wrong i did?
