Hi everyone,

I would like to simulate the action of wires in my model thanks to springs but I cannot find how to use them "tension only" (no reaction force when compressed).

Unfortunately I was not able to find a proper solution with springs after many researchs, but maybe there could also be a different way to do so.

Thank you in advance for your precious help.

siw will become famous soon enough
Assuming use are using ANSYS Mechanical you could define a spring using tabular data and set the compression side to zero, see the test in the image. If you have beta features turned on then the a tension only spring behavior is available, but as it is a beta feature the User Guide does not say is it for use (apart from explicit dynamics and RBD). I just use the tabular data for my springs.
