Editing mesh in ICEM

I'm new to ICEM (or any software to edit meshes for that matter) and was given a mesh to edit. The *.msh has two cylinders that overlap and I simply need to shorten them so they no longer intercept. I could not find a good way to do this without deleting the bottom surface of the cylinders. The cylinders do not appear to be in parts and are just the mesh. I will do my best to clarify any points, but as I said I've never used ICEM before.
Thank you for your help, I've attached an image of the mesh for clarity. |

I can't see a way this can be edited afterwards that is simpler than just changing the original geometry and re-meshing. The different colours in the image you attached indicate that the cylinders are indeed separated in parts, which you can see in the colour-coded Parts section menu at the left of your screen.
So what you need to do is make one or both cylinders smaller so that they don't overlap is that correct? The way I see it, just changing the outer diameter just a little bit and re-meshing should be enough. At the left of your screen you can see a menu called geometry. There you can tick the boxes and see the points, curves and surfaces used to create the geometry you're using. What you can do, is resize the curves that define the outer surface of the cylinder and then re-create the surfaces. Since there is already a blocking in place (otherwise there would be no mesh) you will only have to re-associate the edges of the block to the curves you modified and be done. If you need more information on how to resize and edit the blocking you can look at the tutorials of ICEM, which you can find in ICEM itself or online. Hope it helps. |
