[GAMBIT] Information on Mesh Volumes

Hello,
I am trying to mesh a catalytic converter in GAMBIT and I am completely new to this.
I wanted to know where to use the hex mesh and tetrahedral mesh.
I would like to know instances where these different types of meshes are used and possibly the advantages of using them.

I agree this is pretty basic stuff but I would like to get this sorted as I will be able to best justify my methods to my seniors.

Any help would be appreciated

Any geometry may be subdivided into smaller domains (splits).
Splits strategy may allow you to mesh those smaller domains with hexa mesh (if it is possible)
If not then you can choose tetrahedral mesh.

Benefits for hexa: accuracy, faster convergence and less cells count (for same mesh density in comparison with tetra). But it has a cost: time for achieving full hexa mesh.
At the other hand, you have tetrahedral mesh, which could be quick generated.
