Hi,
I would like to simulate a flow around 2D-Cylinder using CFX 4.2. I really want to see the vortex street downstream of the cylinder. Could anyone share your experience in doing this ? Thanks Dwi Sakti |

Hi Dwi,
2D-cylinder flow is fairly easy to model with CFX. I have got a simple model of Re=100 flow with a vortex street on my home page: http://www.eng.uts.edu.au/~glennh/UTS.html Make sure you have good grid quality and grid resolution in the cylinder boundary layer. I can send you the command file and/or geometry file if you like. You should be able to find lots of references if you do a journal or web search. Regards Glenn |

Hi,
Take a look at the projects on the www-site http://www.bunova.nl They used the Low Reynolds Number k-w model (Wilcox, 1994) for simulating the flow around a cylinder using CFX4.2. Although the text is in Dutch, it might be a useful link. Cheers, Gert-Jan |
