Hi, I just started to use CFX5.7. However, I didn't find cad2mesh in the CFX on my machine. I thought it is included in the CFX software package. Right now I can run the CFX-pre, CFX-solver, and CFX-post, but can't generate my own model and mesh. What should I do to get cad2mesh? Thanks.

The CAD2Mesh refered by CFX 5.7 is ANSYS WorkBench 8.1, you can use it to set up physical model and mesh. But I think a good many other tools are better than that to generate a suitable grid for CFD, such as ICEM or even CFX-Build (which you can find in CFX 5.6).

Jason:

Just to clarify things a bit further. CAD2MESH is a bundled package that includes Design Modeler for geometry creation/editing and a choice of two meshers, CFX Mesh and ICEM4.CFX. Both Design Modeler and CFX Mesh are installed from the ANSYS Workbench cd. The mesher in CFX Mesh is the same mesher that was traditionally in CFX Build.

ICEM4.CFX is the same as ICEM TETRA/PRISM, but only writes out to CFX, where the traditional ICEM product is general purpose and writes out to numerous solvers. You should have also received an ICEM cd, to install ICEM4.CFX.

So, you install CFX Pre, Solve and Post from the CFX cd. Design Modeler and CFX Mesh from the ANSYS Workbench cd and ICEM4.CFX from the ICEM CFD cd.

Cheers,

Derrek
