Hi,

I've never used Ansys CFX before. Could someone explain me the basic steps that I need to follow to get started?

Thank you.

  • Generate the mesh of the flow region either in Workbench or another meshing program (will have to import the mesh if doing this)
  • Specify the boundary conditions in CFX Pre (Setup in workbench)
  • Specify the turbulence model, heat transfer options, convergence control options (time step, residuals target etc) also in CFX Pre/Setup
  • Run the solution

The best documentation is that which comes with ANSYS Workbench (assuming this is what you are working with) which is available in amongst the folders in which it is installed in:
.\Ansys Inc\v121\commonfiles\help\en-us\CFX\help\pdf\
Start with xmod.pdf which should be very helpful to you.
consider xref.pdf and xthry.pdf
The other pdf files are likely to be of less use to you.

What I`m trying to do is modelling the heat transfer inside a can contaminated with microorganism that produces heat do to the metabolism.

Is there a package inside Ansys with the Fourier's Second Law with heat generation?
