how to use mixture model for nanofluids

Dear all,
I am trying to analyze nanofluids numerically using mixture model. In that secondary phase is not giving the option of using the solid as the material. How to overcome this problem. thanks in advance. |

Nanofluid does not mean to import solid nano particles. Nanofluid works just with fluid properties. First you should calculate fluid's new properties (because of nano particles effect on fluid properties) on a paper. Then input the new properties in the material properties. |

i want to study the effect of particle size, hence i need to use the mixture model.

Need to use discrete phase model to be able to add the thermophoresis effect.
I am trying to do the same thing, but dont know how to introduce the nanoparticles as a discrete phase. Initially nanoparticles need to be dispersed within the base fluid. Any idea how to do it in FLUENT? |

Modeling of nanofluids via multiphase models, either Eulerian or Lagrangian, is physically irrelevant. These should always be modeled by modifying the fluid properties. These are termed nanofluids and not fluids with nanoparticles, which these really are, because the particles do not really behave that way. Even a 10 nm particle requires a turbulent dissipation rate of the order of for any interaction with flow. This is not really possible. So, nanoparticles do not interact with flow, only with fluid. Hence, you should modify the fluid properties and solve it as single phase flow. Experimentally, we never observed any benefit of nanofluids for thermal diffusion enhancement. It might be beneficial in some fields but not for thermal augmentation.
