Is power Law a first order scheme?

I found out that my predictions are better when using power Law compared second order upwind.

Can anyone advise why this is happening?

I found out that my convergence is faster with this.

What kind of problem are you solving? It depends on the ratio beetween adventive and diffusive terms. Luca

I am trying to predict the hydrodynamics of flow in stirred tank reactor of 300rpm. The mean velocities(axial, radial & tangential) & turbulent quantities are of interest to me.

Expecting yr reply

When you say "better" what does it mean? only faster convergence or a better fidelity to experimental case?Luca

Hi

In case of your problem, even the second order upwind will give worse results than given by Power Law. Although Power Law is not a good enough scheme, but in your problem flow dependency is much higher, which is neglected by Upwind.
