Posts: n/a

I am working on CFD analysis using porous material in the model. I am new to set up this type of BC'S.

Can you help me in stting alpha & beta values.

If you have any material or link which gives details on setting up such Analysis, Please forward it.

The alpha & beta values are basically to model the inertial and viscous resistance to the flow due to the porous medium. There are pure and semi-empirical relations to model these parameters. Most of these are explained in Section 7.19.6 of the user guide in the Fluent documentation. For the specific case of laminar flow, terms described by the Blake-Kozeny relations (Eqs 7.19-17 & 7.19-18) are rather good. Maybe you should read through that section and see if it's useful to you. Hope this was helpful.

Good luck.
