Using Ansys Fluent, I wanted to calculate the CL and CD coefficients for a 3D airfoil with a speed of 22 m/s. We created inflation layers and the first element height is calculated for y plus equals to 1. I used kw-SST as the turbulence model. I also compared the results with the Lifting Line Coupled xfoil results. In my analysis with 1.8 million mesh, the CL and CD results were almost identical. I have saved the results of the fluent solution with the Tecplot method and compared the contours with Lifting Line Coupled xfoil results. There was slight oscillation in pressure coefficient contours while skin friction contours were discontinuous. I increased the number of mesh (nearly 6 million) and the minimum orthogonal quality was 0.03 and max. skewness was 0.9 and we used the model as transition SST. Even though the results were consistent, the skin friction coefficient contours were still discontinuous.
How can we improve skin friction coefficients contours?
