Hi, I'm working with a commercial CFD package and I'm looking for basic examples that can be used to validate the code. As I'm trying to model highly convective biological flows with large Peclet numbers, I need to validate the upwinding ability of the software to solve these convective flows. Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I think You can do something like this. You can discretize convection diffusion equation and use differenet values of Sc number and you can validate your code against analytical results.

Thanks. As I'm new to CFD, I was wondering if you knew about upwinding. I'm using a finite element code and all the published work refers to the Streamline/Upwind Petrov-Galerkin (SUPG) upwinding technique. However, the upwinding is applied to the Navier-Stokes equations. If I can validate my upwinding against the published Navier-Stokes work, is it possible to assume that the upwing technique is valid for the convection diffusion equation? Again, any advice would be of great help

Hi dev

I was wondering if you knew about upwinding. I'm using a finite element code No I do not know anything about finite elemnt codes and all the published work refers to the Streamline/Upwind Petrov-Galerkin (SUPG) upwinding technique. However, the upwinding is applied to the Navier-Stokes equations. If I can validate my upwinding against the published Navier-Stokes work, Why do not you validate your results ith convection reaction diffusion equation it would not take muc time i guess is it possible to assume that the upwing technique is valid for the convection diffusion equation? Again, any advice would be of great help
