Hi, I posted this message a few days ago but apparently nobody uses the Package! If any of you see this message for the first time, would you please let me know how I can find a comprehensive manual for Visual 3 (other than MIT published). Thank you.

Start by using and playing with the demos in the demo directory. They are very helpful. You can move the cursor to any of the 5 windows and type in the ? mark to get a list of all the options available to you. You can visualize surface grids (if that's what you were looking for) using the dial window.

If you have basic level programming skills then it should be very easy to use the source files in the demo directory to build your own subroutines. The manual that comes with the software is more than sufficient for the job. I've used the routine for many years, and I believe it is one of the fastest visualization packages in the field (though not as user friendly)

How do you compare it with TECPLOT?

..and I forgot to ask, my main problem is how I can get the i,j,k of the grid point that I want. I even have problems to find the exact values of x,y,z of an specific point. I know when I am in 2D window, F1 or F2 activate this, but I have no control on the pointer to get the xyz, let alone its ijk... do you have anu clue?

I don't know where the problem is ... I just ran an example. I went to the 3D window and cut a plane using F4. Then I went to the 2D plane and turned on line probe with F1. Now as I move my mouse/cursor around on the cut surface (you can use F10 in 2D to view the grids as well), the shell that I started Visual3 in gives me the values of the parameter (such as density), the cell number, the node numbers (if you point at a node), their coordinate values, etc.

All you said are absolutely correct, when I move the prob, in the text window I see everything as follow for example:

Value = 276.6 in cell 11357 @ (-.7110E-02, 101.1 , 2.255 ) Flow Vectors -1.308 , 119.2 , 171.0

as you said everything is given, except i,j,k of the node, and that's what I need to know to make sure my geometry is correctly established. Do yo have any clue for this too? Thanks again.
