wojtekpwr is on a distinguished road
Hello Foamers!

I have a question concerning cooperation OpenFoam 2.3.0 with Abaqus 6.12.
I would like to try make turbine blade calculation in OpenFoam and create some pressure surfaces. Is it possible to transfer the results from OpenFOAM to Abaqus to make stress analysis for example checking vibration?

Do I need some additional software?

regards

Wojtek

Hi Wojtek,

There is in built in tool that will convert OpenFOAM data to ABAQUS. However, the data format is pretty easy to work with, so it shouldn't be too hard to write a conversion program/script. You would need to map the data from OF (pressure, force) on the nodes/faces into the ABAQUS format.

Good luck!

Quick answer/tip: The solidMechanics toolkit has a foamMeshToAbaqus utility, although as the name indicates, it only converts the mesh to Abaqus' format.
