Hello!
I am looking for a solver FSI (Fluid-Structure Interaction) - 3D. The goal is to simulate flows in deformable pipes (with small deformations or if exists, for larger deformations). I installed OpenFOAM 2.3 but not found any FSI solver in this version. I have also installed here, Foam-extend 3.1. Could someone point me to some solver? If there .. * Note: wish it was three-dimensional solver THANK'S FOR ATENTION. |

Hello steven123,
Did you try google FSI openfoam. You get a lot of hits maybe one will give you information. As you should know if you did some tutorial Openfoam is alway 3D, even the 2D and 1D tutorials hope this helps Wouter |

If you want to use FSI in OpenFOAM you need the foam-extend version of OpenFOAM. The "vanilla" version (aka 2.3) does not support FSI.

Hi,
Joachim is correct The Extend-Community works on FSI You can read Lectures and Presentations on the Webpage from http://www.openfoamworkshop.org/program.html the previous years also had some publications on FSI so take a look at the stuff from OFW 1-9 http://registration.sdewes.org/ofw09...f31debb77b34x2 FSI presentations startet at OFW2 but if you read the latest developments there are classes intruduced directly related to FSI http://registration.sdewes.org/ofw09...f31debb77b34x2 http://sunet.dl.sourceforge.net/proj...Zagreb2007.pdf From Plastic Pipes and Bottles to Bioengineering Applications: Fluid-Structure Interaction Procedures for Flexible Systems http://cznic.dl.sourceforge.net/proj...Zagreb2007.pdf http://cznic.dl.sourceforge.net/proj...Zagreb2007.pdf Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) in Bioengineering |

thanks friend! I already installed foam-extend 3.1 , the last release....., but I don't found this kind of solver yet. Can you tell me where I can found this FSI solver? IcoFSIfoam is one of these solvers ? where can I download it? thanks friend! I appreciate your answer! |

This seems to be the tutorial in foam-extend-3.1 for FSI:
http://sourceforge.net/p/openfoam-ex.../HronTurekFsi/ Also in extend-bazaar if you execute the Allwmake skript http://sourceforge.net/p/openfoam-ex...azaar/Allwmake a special FSI archive is downloaded (from http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Ex...re_interaction) and compiled. |

My progress:
I download "Allwmake" file and put inside a folder that I created... and by terminal, typed "./Allwmake". Is it correct? If yes, what is the next step? thanks!!! this is my folder, after execute "./Allwmake" on the terminal: Screenshot from 2014-07-07 17:11:31.jpg And now, what should I do? |

hello steven123,
As I wrote before Openfoam is not easy. You need to do the tutorials to understand how OF works. If you want to do more than the basics it is a lengthy study of the software and this forum and wiki pages. So no I cannot tell you how to run this folders. I know that OF is run from terminal, so start with learning how to use terminal in linux. Sorry I cannot help you more Wouter |

Dear Steven,
do you still looking for help on running some FSI problems or you solve yours? Could you able to execute some tutorials? If no, post your all questions to give you some answers that I know. I'm looking for some FSI cases at the moment and I could execute some. All the best |

Greeting to all OpenFOAM users,
I need to get your help to implement my case about flow-induced vibration of an elastic cylinder with small deformation. I followed the tutorial about flappingConsoleSmall in icoFsiFoam solver in foam-extend-3.1. For fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problem, need to solve two parts fluid and solid a. fluid part: solve flow equation with velocity and pressure boundary conditions. b. solid part: solve the elasticity equation with displacement boundary condition. c. using Arbitrary Lagrangian- Eluerian (ALE) method for FSI. d. In FSI, need to know how that drag forces from fluid affects the displacement in the solid surface, and how displacement affects on drag forces. Could you please help me by some tips and advice to implement that in my case. I would like to attached my case, but unfortunately, it is exceed the space (update error). So, if you are happy to have a look in my case, contact me please via my email address may78may@hotmail.com. Kind regards Maimouna |
