After a few months, I revisited a case which I had based on the motorBike tutorial, but whereas it ran fine before, now it comes up with problems. So I copied the motorBike tutorial itself to my run folder, but it now has problems which I did not see earlier. Attached is an image showing the issues.

I can only see the cell array variables when I un-check 'skip zero time.' When I do that, in the upper pull-down I see 'U' but not 'p.' But I need to see the pressure fields. Why is it not in the pull-down?

Also, in the Output Messages there are a series of errors, stating "Expected number, string or (, found pressure", etc. I searched the forum on this issue, and found a member who said that it is due to a different version of paraView being used. Now, this problem didn't appear a few months ago, and anyway, I am using the paraView that comes packaged with the ubuntu OpenFOAM. I tried replacing the $internalField references in the boundary conditions with the direct values, but it made no difference.

What is going on here? I even did a sudo apt-get update in the terminal, but this made no difference; who knows - it may have aggravated the situation.

Hi Alan,

As mentioned in the error description, there are some syntax errors in you omega and pressure file. If you can provide the content of those files, it is little bit easier for us to help you....

Thanks for your quick reply!
Here are the individual boundary condition files, as well as a zip file for the whole case. Due to the 5 file limit, I didn't include the separate nut file, but any error you can find would apply to this one as well. I hope you can find the problem, but in any event, I appreciate your help!

Pardon me for being too fast . Indeed there is no syntax error in the pressure and omega files. I guess the default OF reader from paraview is not able to read included files. A quick workaround maybe is you can simply execute foamToVTK in ur working directly, and manually import the files in paraview using open>file.

When the motorBike tutorial was giving me incomplete data, I had thought that the problem was somehow with my functions in the controlDict, and I spent a long time fiddling with that.

But when I'm trouble shooting, I reduce the run time in order to more quickly try different things. It turned out that when I reduced the end time to 50 seconds, it wasn't long enough for OpenFOAM to have converged data. I tried incrementally reducing the run time from the normal 500 seconds, and found that it still worked okay at 100 seconds, so problem solved!

And while doing this, I inadvertently brushed the keyboard, causing the Ubuntu window to turn black. It took a day and a half of thrashing this problem, and finally I found that by pressing CTRL-HOME, it brought up screen control windows.

So two problems solved!
