Solidification simulation with OpenFOAM

Hi,experts:

Can OpenFOAM be used to model solidification and melting? Does anyone have experience in modeling laser welding or laser cladding or casting using OpenFOAM? Thanks!

Hi,

Yes, it is possible to simulate solidification. you need to develop the code for it. Even i am new to Openfoam and working on solidification.

am trying to develop solidification solver based on icoFoam and adding transport equations for temperature.
As initial step i am solving only temp equation without any convection term and trying to validate the results with some available data.
