Hi,

I have a PLY with texture coordinates and the texture in the same folder, but it is shown without the texture. In MeshLab it works fine.

Thanks for any help

Did maybe someone get textures in Paraview on a ply without these "Map Texture to..." but with the texture coordinates in the ply get to work?

Any help would be great. Thanks!

Greetings mrv4real,

A test case would make it easier to check things for ourselves, since personally I'm not familiar with this format.

Either way, you can also check this thread: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/par...re-sphere.html

Best regards,
Bruno

Hi,

thanks four your reply. I attached a test file, which works fine in MeshLab but not in ParaView. The "Apply Texture" in the display properties of the ply file are disabled.

If someone knows a format, for which it works, I could convert the ply.

Unfortunately I cant use the "Map Texture to..." filters, as I would like to use more complicated geometries.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi mrv4real,

I did quick search on PLY and found this: http://paraview.org/Wiki/ParaView:FA...iew_support.3F - if this information is up-to-date, it looks like ParaView only had very basic support for the PLY format.

I looked at the latest manual: http://www.paraview.org/files/v4.0/P...anual.v4.0.pdf - and searched for the word "texture". The closest thing I could find was the plug-in "PointSprite", which seems to be able to render "texture mapped sprites"... although I did try it, but didn't seem to lead anywhere.

After some more searching, it looks like that there isn't any format that can be used for ParaView for automatically importing textures, unless it is already in VTK format. Or it still has to be coded to import the texture(s) along with the geometry, as exemplified here: http://scylardor.fr/2013/05/06/makin...work-with-vtk/

Best regards,
Bruno
