star ccm+, FSI, overset grid, flatplate

Hi friends,

I have a question about the capability of the overset function of star ccm+.
I want to run a FSI simulation on a oscillating plate. The question is that during the simulation, is it possible to use overset to accommodate the rotational and transnational motion of the plate as well as the deforming motion?. I have successfully run the simulation using the mesh morphing function (and the co-simulation function with abaqus. ), however, it turned out that it is very time consuming because the solver tried to remesh the fluid region at every time step. This is also the main reason I want to switch to the overset approach. Anyone has experiences in this regard, I would really appreciate your reply. Thanks

I have also tried to use fluent, took me ages to fix the udf problem. Star ccm+ is surprisingly faster than fluent in terms of remeshing. I suppose it is because star ccm+ uses RBF approach to predict the nonlinear motion of mesh vertices. It came to me that if overset is capable, it would be tremendously faster....
