Hello,
In these days I tried to run a CFD simulation in Star-ccm+ 11 in parallel mpi mode in two almost identical Intel PC with 4 cpu and 32 GB RAM per each. On both PCs runs Windows 7 64 bit and the same version of Star. Reading an other Thread in this forum, and doing a lot of tentatives, I finally managed to start the mpi 4+4 (PC1+PC2) simulation with (default) IBM mpi method. The strange thing is that if I tried to do the same thing but starting from PC2 instead of PC1 mpi doesn't work. The message shows some error about mpirun Someone knows why this could happen? Maybe I could have done something different in setting windows account and password into the registry but I neither know if it is necessary. |

If you want to start the server process on the second PC, you need to ensure you follow the same procedure you used on the first one to ensure the second PC has permissions to do this.
For these setups I would recommend you ditch Windows and use Linux, it's far easier to configure. |
