Are you using Windows or linux? Star-CCM+ is 32 or 64 bits ?

I'm not fully sure what your problem is.
Does your machine have 1 cpu or 16 cores? And what does it have to do with the memory?

If you have a machine with 16 cores, but the sim runs in serial, it will use only 6% of the available cpu capacity. To use more, you have to run it in parallel, but it will not work without mpich.
But it is recommended to use only 15 cores, because it will start 16 processes: 15 processes for the flow solver and one controller process.
