Default FLUENT-NASTRAN ON SAILS

Hello everybody:

I´m working on sails, I have a pair genaker-main configuration, and i use fluent to get the forces on the sail. Then i get the deformation on a struct program call Nastran.

My problem is that my sail have to have a young module like iron to deform a normal lenght. Does anyone knows were the problem can be?. I had use both, nonlinear and linear model to get my new deformed sail, but it doesnt work. the fluet forces seems to be right but im not sure becouse i dont have experimental data.

Thanks in advance.

Well, I don't know much about your sail, but do you have reliable mechanical properties for it? As to the young module of iron as compared to the sail, I wouldn't be much surprised if they were close to each other.

COuld you post the forces you get (with apparent winf angle too). Ill be able to check them. I agree with George about the modulus if it s built out of high tech fabric.
