Modifying type patch to empty

Hello,
I created a 3D mesh using Gambit and exported this mesh through Fluent5/6 file type, I then imported the mesh into OF with the command "fluent3Dmeshtofoam name_of_mesh.msh -scale 0.001". When I check the Mesh with checkMesh after this step everything is fine but once I modify one of my boundaries from type patch to empty, I get a mesh failed error. The boundary I am trying to modify is the FrontAndBack that I specified in Gambit as Type Internal. Could anyone help me please ? Thank you! |

I managed to solve the issue by stretching the size of the mesh in the direction normal to the empty patches (z-axis), with the scaling tool of OpenFOAM. From what I understood the non-aligned edges error was due to the non-orthogonality constraint being to strict when using flattenMesh, so my question is: how do we modify the parameter for the non-orthogonality check associated with the command flattenMesh ?
If I want to still compute my simulation using the transformed mesh, is it okay to use it knowing that in the one-cell thick z-dimension the cells are 0.1m wide which is about the same order of magnitude as the whole size of the mesh ? Thank you guys for your help in advance, I hope someone will be able to enlighten me here. |
