Don't know. If anybody knows whether this content is still available (at MFIX or elsewhere) please let me know (King Google did not help). Else I'll remove the link (no use keeping dead links)

Hi Bernhard,

I've got a little request: could you please add the template for the OF 1.7 version please?
I have a faint memory that there were instructions somewhere in the wiki on how to create them, but I can't seem to find them

Thank you very much! Best regards,
Bruno

Don't think that was ever explained, but it is quite simple. Copy an old template. Then change the URL to the new template name, paste the stuff from the old one and adapt to the new version

There is a small documentation error for groovyBC on the Wiki:

Section 3.4: the descriptions for 'delta' and 'weights' should be the other way round.

Cheers,

Paul.

The nice thing about the Wiki is that whoever finds a mistake is allowed to correct it

Although if the article is written by a specific author, it's probably better practice to let them know that you're changing their article before doing so?

Done. And nice and easy to do (even for those that do not already know how). You need to create an account for the Wiki, read the instructions and tutorial for editing pages and then select the appropriate section. The notes on etiquette advise on checking with the original author first (as in my post above, for example) and making a record of the reason for the change.

The result is a small increase in the order of the Wiki, without too much energy expended in the rest of the universe. Everyone's happy!

Welcome to the Wiki.

Obviously you read the etiquette. Great. I'm ashamed to say: I didn't. I only wrote it ... a long time ago. And it needs some modification.

Anyway. I changed the section about asking to say "only for major changes"

I've decided to stop signing my articles because it discourages people from making changes. You can always see authorship using the [history] tab.

Greetings Bernhard,

Since the wiki's front page is locked from unauthorized personnel editing it (AFAIK), here is the fix for the release notes on the top right part of the page:
Code:
[http://www.openfoam.com/docs/release-notes.php 1.7.1] | [http://www.openfoam.com/archive/1.7.0/docs/release-notes.php 1.7.0] | [http://www.openfoam.com/archive/1.6/docs/release-notes.php 1.6] | [http://www.openfoam.com/download/version1.5.php 1.5] | [http://www.openfoam.com/download/version1.4.1.php 1.4.1] | [http://www.openfoam.com/download/version1.4.php 1.4] | [http://www.openfoam.com/download/version1.3.php 1.3] | [http://www.openfoam.com/download/version1.2.php 1.2] | [http://www.openfoam.com/download/version1.1.php 1.1] | [http://www.openfoam.com/download/version1.0.php 1.0]
Hi got there firstly with a little reverse engineering on the URL for 1.7.0, but the official version links list page is this: http://www.openfoam.com/download/history.php

And as you might know, OpenFOAM 1.7.1 hours ago

Best regards,
Bruno

Sorry for that stalinist restriction. But that was the first page that spam-bots would modify and I got tired of repairing the page every few weeks

Thanks. Changes where I only "have to add water" to make them work are most appreciated

So I noticed. I'm wondering if anyone will write a news-item using http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Wi...the_front_page
Otherwise I'll do that next week

I just tried, and failed, to upload a picture to the wiki and got this message.

The upload directory (public) is not writable by the webserver.

Ups. Sorry. Forgot to chown the direcotryx after an upgrade of the Wiki-Software. Could you try again?

Greetings to all!

@Bernhard: I've got a little sugestion/request for the wiki: since Categories are now being more explored/used and can provide an essential quick search capability, can the link for them be added to the navigation menu?

On a second note, this weekend I've somewhat documented two undocumented Function Objects of the original OpenFOAM version, added them to the Tips page and added a new category for them: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Ca...nction_Objects
I also tracked down other contributed function objects to this category.

And on the beginning of the year, I added two other categories for OpenFOAM on Mac and on Windows.

So, this is why I'm proposing the Categories link to be added.

If there is anything wrong with the steps I've taken, please let me know so I can fix my wrong doings

Best regards,
Bruno

Hi Bruno!

I noticed that it was a "busy" weekend on the Wiki.

To answer your second question first: No. Everything alright with your edits (of course I didn't check them for factual accuracy. I rely on your expertise for that )

About the categories: you mean adding a link to http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Special:Categories with the name "Categories" to the sidebar (somewhere below FAQ). You're right. That might encourage people to Tag articles. I'll have a look

Done.

(This text added to extend the text beyond the required 10 character limit of the message board. I think it tries to enforce military language with this. Try writing a simple "yes" Won't work "Positive" Won't work "Positive, Sir!" Works. My Theory: the writer of the message board software is a marine)
