This five-day continuing professional development (CPD) programme introduces the most advanced current computing capabilities and what these offer over desktop environments. On completion you will able to: demonstrate a critical awareness of the range of high performance computing (hardware) platforms available for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations; demonstrate the systematic application of the essential software extensions required for parallel computing; recognise what application of high performance computing can achieve.
Core content:
Geometry modelling and surface grids; algebraic mesh generation; desktop versus supercomputing; parallel computing issues; parallelisation approaches for distributed and shared memory systems. MPI & OpenMP.
