ADT to Showcase Multi-objective Optimization for Turbomachinery at AJKFluids 2019

Date:Thu, 18 Jul 2019, 12:34 p.m.

Advanced Design Technology, Ltd. (ADT), a global leader in the development of advanced turbomachinery design methods and their TURBOdesign Suite design software, is a silver sponsor of the ASME AJKFluids Engineering Conference in San Francisco, CA and will be exhibiting in the Grand Ballroom Foyer.

According to conference organisers, the AJKFluids Engineering Conference is a partnership between the American, Japanese and Korean Societies of Mechanical Engineers (ASME, JSME and KSME). It operates on a four-year cycle to stimulate international collaboration and bring the global fluids engineering community together. This year’s edition is being held in San Francisco to mark 20 years since its last visit.

ADT will demonstrate their cutting edge TURBOdesign Suite software, where unique 3D Inverse Design technology rapidly achieves optimum performance in the design of pumps, compressors, fans and turbines. TURBOdesign Suite provides increased efficiency, enhanced performance, shorter development time and an expanded design space.

We are particularly delighted as ADT’s co-founder, Dr. Akira Goto, Technical Superintendent, Ebara Corporation and former President of the Turbomachinery Society of Japan will host a special plenary session on the topic: Past, Present and Future of Three-Dimensional Flow Control in Pumping Machinery from Perspective of a Researcher in Industry. In addition, Dr. Goto is the winner of the 2019 ASME Henry R. Worthington Medal.

At this year’s conference ADT staff will present technical publications on: - Multi-objective Optimization of a High Specific Speed Centrifugal Volute Pump Using 3D Inverse Design Coupled with CFD Simulations - Numerical Investigation on the Effect of Blade Loading on Unsteady Sheet Cavitation Patterns (work done as the author was completing a PhD at UCL sponsored by Ebara Corporation)

"We help companies develop more efficient turbomachinery across the operating range requirements to answer commercial and legislative challenges” says Prof. Mehrdad Zangeneh, Managing Director of ADT, “A 3D Inverse Design approach for turbomachinery optimization can deliver considerable reduction in development costs and times, providing an ideal platform for multi-point turbomachinery design and optimization compatible with industrial development standard."

ADT representatives will be in the Grand Ballroom to demonstrate TURBOdesign Suite, where design engineers and manufacturers representatives will be shown how the full software package gives users total control of the design process. From preliminary designs to its integration with Ansys and Siemens in order to run multidisciplinary optimization, at every stage TURBOdesign Suite significantly reduces the time and level of input required by the user to create breakthrough designs.

About TURBOdesign Suite ADT’s TURBOdesign Suite is a unique aerodynamic and hydrodynamic 3D design software package that allows users to design, analyze and optimize all types of turbomachinery, such as axial, mixed-flow or centrifugal pumps, compressors, fans, turbines and torque converters. Using the software, designers evaluate turbomachinery package size and performance predictions; perform detailed 3D blade design with 3D inverse design capabilities; analyze flow information per component; stage performances with turbomachinery specific 3D computational fluid dynamics (CFD); and automate exploration of the design space with automatic optimization capabilities.

About Advanced Design Technology Advanced Design Technology (ADT) is a global leader in the development of advanced turbomachinery design methods, which help shorten development time and improve performance of turbomachinery components. ADT’s aim is to put designers in direct control of the aerodynamic design and to considerably shorten the design time and time to market for a range of turbomachinery products. ADT’s clients, who represent some of the leading global players in the aerospace, automotive, power generation and marine fields, have achieved significant returns on investment in terms of reduction in design times, higher performance and ease of know-how transfer among different design teams and projects.
