This workshop aims to cover different numerical methods used
in CFD for solving problems in such areas using HPC. Basics
of HPC programming framework will be complemented by timely
and relevant topics in CFD where HPC resources are
indispensable.
Description:
About the Workshop:
In recent times, different research areas like external
aerodynamics, transient flow, turbulent flow, combustion,
forest fire spread, plume dispersion of pollution in
air/water in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) rely on high
performance computing (HPC) resource for computational
studies. This workshop aims to cover different numerical
methods used in CFD for solving problems in such areas using
HPC. Basics of HPC programming framework will be
complemented by timely and relevant topics in CFD where HPC
resources are indispensable.
Topics:
Introduction to HPC
OpenMP & MPI with demonstration
CUDA and GPU optimized codes
Finite Difference Method (FDM) and its domain decomposition
methods
Finite Volume Method (FVM) in incompressible flow equations
- pressure based
FVM in compressible flow equations - density based
Finite Element Method (FEM)
Spectral Methods
Continuous Galerkin (CG) finite element method
Discontinuous Galerkin (DG) finite element method
